I was contributing to a workshop for forest policy makers from provinces in five countries: Vietnam, Thailand, Laos, Cambodia and Myanmar. This picture was taken during the field trip of that week. We visited a project in which a hydropower company pays money to the farmers uphill who protect the forest. They only do patrolling though, no management of forest. The poor guys where very scared of us. But thank god we had Thomas, he made friends with them in five minutes.
